In this body of work, Ekaterina Popova explores nature from memory, found images, as well as imagined places and characters. Through these paintings, she meditates on the concept of healing, finding a safe place, and connecting with nature. The expressive (and sometimes abstracted) brush strokes represent foliage, plants, and forests. In some cases, there is a hint of human presence in the form of a window, fence, or door. She hopes the works remind the viewer to take time for themselves, feel grounded and present and find safety and belonging by reflecting on positive memories, places, and moments in their lives.
